Akitas are a beautiful, intelligent and noble breed. They are not for the first time dog owner. They require positive, consistant training. Although, they are large dogs (85-100+ lbs) they are house dogs. They thrive with their family. If you don't intend for them to be in your home as part of your family then the Akita is not for you. They are a protective breed and require socialisation from a young age.
